AceShowbiz - Netflix has begun filming an adaptation of Paulo Coelho’s acclaimed novel The Pilgrimage, directed by Vicente Amorim. The movie features prominent Brazilian actors Johnny Massaro and Rodrigo Santoro in leading roles.
The production is currently underway in Spain, following an announcement earlier in mid-2024. Santoro, known for his roles in the 300 franchise, HBO’s Westworld, and Netflix’s The Son of a Thousand Men, reunites with Massaro, who also appeared in The Son of a Thousand Men and the film God Save The King.
In the film, Massaro portrays Paulo, a man embarking on a spiritual journey through the diverse landscapes of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela. Alongside him is the mysterious guide Petrus, played by Santoro. The story follows their trek across mountains, forests, and fields, where Paulo faces a series of physical and spiritual challenges.
The journey pushes both characters to their limits as Paulo’s quest for self-discovery unfolds through encounters with enigmatic forces and transformative experiences. The film promises to explore themes of personal growth and the mystical aspects of the pilgrimage.
As the cameras roll, anticipation builds for this Netflix adaptation that brings Paulo Coelho’s spiritual tale to life with a compelling cast and evocative scenery.
