AceShowbiz - Netflix has announced that Eddie Murphy's tribute, The 51st AFI Life Achievement Award: A Tribute To Eddie Murphy, will premiere on the streaming platform starting May 31. This release follows the gala tribute held on April 18 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
The American Film Institute (AFI) has honored entertainment legends with its Life Achievement Award since 1973, beginning with filmmaker John Ford. Last November, Murphy was named the recipient of this accolade, joining a list of honorees including Francis Ford Coppola, Nicole Kidman, and Julie Andrews.
The AFI tribute at the Dolby Theatre recognized Eddie Murphy for his career spanning film, television, and stand-up comedy. As one of the commercially successful actors in film history, Murphy has multiple $100 million box office hits over the last thirty years. His projects include films such as Beverly Hills Cop and Daddy Day Care.
At 64 years old, the recognition comes after his exploration of life and career in the Netflix documentary Being Eddie. His recent film work on the platform also includes roles in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, You People, and Dolemite Is My Name.
This Netflix premiere offers viewers the opportunity to see a celebration of Eddie Murphy's impact on entertainment.
