AceShowbiz - Robert Plant and his band Saving Grace appeared on The Late Show on Wednesday to deliver a unique performance of the classic Led Zeppelin song "Ramble On."
The group presented a stripped-down, blues-influenced version of the 1969 track, incorporating an accordion and showcasing Robert Plant's distinctive vocal style with a dramatic touch. The song, co-written by Robert Plant and Jimmy Page, originally featured on the iconic album Led Zeppelin II. Its lyrics drew inspiration from J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, a detail that resonated with host Stephen Colbert.
Robert Plant began collaborating with Saving Grace in 2019 after scheduling intimate shows in small theaters across England. The band released their album Saving Grace in 2025 and embarked on a U.S. tour last fall. Notably, much of the album was recorded outdoors in a field, embracing a natural atmosphere.
Reflecting on the recording process to Rolling Stone, Robert Plant said, "It was an experiment that took me back to Physical Graffiti with Led Zeppelin when I did quite a few vocals outside. I really enjoyed the whole idea of being out there rather than in the constraints of a studio."
This appearance marked a rare opportunity to see Robert Plant revisit Led Zeppelin’s legacy while showcasing his current musical direction with Saving Grace on a prominent late-night platform.
