Experience Radiohead's KID A MNESIA film in a groundbreaking Coachella installation. See Thom Yorke's iconic artwork in a 17,000-sq-ft bunker. Limited run.
- April 9, 2026
AceShowbiz - Radiohead is set to premiere a groundbreaking audiovisual installation at this year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival before taking it on a broader North American tour.
The installation, titled Motion Picture House, showcases the KID A MNESIA film — a visual and auditory experience featuring artwork created by Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke and longtime collaborator Stanley Donwood. The artwork originates from the sessions behind the band’s iconic albums KID A (2000) and Amnesiac (2001), both seminal works in the band’s catalog.
Festival attendees will have the chance to experience the installation for the first time at Coachella’s underground Bunker venue starting Friday. The installation will be available for a limited run during both weekends of the festival.
All ticket holders for Coachella can enter the expansive 17,000-square-foot bunker to view the 75-minute film. The venue features imposing 28-foot-high ceilings and is situated beneath the Empire Polo Fields, the iconic location that hosts the festival. The installation includes large-scale artwork from the KID A and Amnesiac era, providing fans with an immersive environment that visually complements the music.
According to Coachella’s official website, the Bunker will run five screenings daily and is equipped with air conditioning to ensure visitor comfort during the experience. Details on how to attend the installation have been published by the festival organizers. Interestingly, the installation was initially teased during the festival lineup announcement last September, appearing subtly at the bottom of the promotional poster. It’s important to note that Radiohead themselves are not scheduled to perform at the festival during either weekend.
The film’s soundtrack features tracks from both KID A and Amnesiac, albums that were recorded during the same sessions but released separately. In 2021, the two albums were reissued together under the collective title KID A MNESIA, including previously unreleased demos and sketches from the original recording process.
The KID A MNESIA film was initially released as a walking simulator video game experience in 2021. This virtual release came after the original plan to host a physical exhibition was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Following its Coachella debut in Palm Springs, the installation will embark on a North American tour with stops including Brooklyn’s Agger Fish Building from May 6 to May 31, Chicago’s Cinespace Studio from July 30 to August 23, Mexico City’s La Maravilla Studios between October 27 and November 15, and finally, San Francisco’s Palace of Fine Arts from January 14 to February 7, 2027.
Tickets for these locations will be sold in two-hour sessions to accommodate the 75-minute film plus additional time for fans to explore the surrounding gallery space. Fans interested in presale tickets must register their interest by April 12 at 11:59 p.m. PT. Registrants will be randomly selected for access to the presale, which begins on April 22. Any remaining tickets will become available to the general public starting April 24 at 10 a.m. local time.
