AceShowbiz - The desert music scene is set to heat up as Jack White has been announced as a surprise performer for the first weekend of Coachella. The festival revealed his addition alongside the detailed set times for weekend one, placing White on the Mojave stage at 3 p.m.
Jack White is no stranger to Coachella, having performed with his band The White Stripes in 2003 and headlining as a solo artist in 2015. His unexpected inclusion this year follows a recent trend where veteran artists have been added last minute to the lineup.
This announcement comes shortly after Jack White released two new singles, "G.O.D. and the Broken Ribs" and "Derecho Demonico," which debuted last Friday. His busy schedule continued with a musical guest spot on Saturday Night Live the very next day, followed by a performance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Monday.
His last album, No Name, was a surprise release that marked one of his most hard-hitting rock efforts in recent years and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Album. Additionally, The White Stripes were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame just last year.
Aside from Jack White’s surprise set, this year’s Coachella features headliners such as Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber, and Karol G. Other notable artists performing include Young Thug, Devo, Addison Rae, Sombr, and David Byrne. The Strokes will also take the main stage on Saturday night.
Festival-goers and music enthusiasts alike are eagerly awaiting Jack White’s performance, which is expected to be a highlight of the weekend given his recent artistic momentum and strong legacy at Coachella.
