AceShowbiz - Simon Guobadia has officially withdrawn his $500,000 defamation lawsuit against his estranged wife, Porsha Williams, marking a significant development in their ongoing legal dispute.
The lawsuit stemmed from a social media post shared by Williams, which addressed men’s health issues, specifically erectile dysfunction. Guobadia alleged that the post was indirectly targeted at him and claimed it damaged his reputation.
The case, which has been pending since 2024, was dismissed without prejudice after Guobadia requested the court to drop the matter. This means the lawsuit could potentially be refiled in the future, as no judgment was made on the merits of the claim.
Despite the dismissal, Williams had sought an order requiring Guobadia to cover her legal expenses, but the judge denied this request.
Guobadia issued a statement clarifying that the dismissal does not signify abandonment of his legal rights. He emphasized that he retains the option to pursue the same claims against Williams at a later date, asserting that no court has ruled his allegations invalid or without merit.
The couple’s split followed Williams filing for divorce in early 2024 after a little over a year of marriage. Around this time, Guobadia was detained by ICE and subsequently deported back to Nigeria, his country of origin.
This legal episode has drawn public attention as it unfolded alongside their personal separation, highlighting the complexities of their post-marriage relationship and ongoing disputes.
As of now, the lawsuit is paused, but the door remains open for future legal actions between the former couple.
