AceShowbiz - One of the individuals involved in the 2018 killing of XXXTENTACION has been freed after serving a five-year prison sentence.
Robert Allen, charged alongside three others in the rapper’s murder, completed his sentence following a plea agreement. He became a pivotal witness after agreeing to cooperate with prosecutors, pleading guilty to second-degree murder and armed robbery. Allen later testified against his co-defendants.
During the 2023 trial, Allen recounted how the group trailed XXXTENTACION prior to the fatal shooting on June 18, 2018, outside a motorcycle dealership in Deerfield Beach, Florida. Authorities revealed the 20-year-old rapper had recently withdrawn $50,000, which made him a target for the crime.
Allen admitted his presence during the robbery and confirmed the plan to seize the money. In exchange for his cooperation, he was sentenced to five years in prison followed by probation.
At sentencing, the judge expressed belief in Allen’s remorse. "I genuinely believe that you are sorry for what you've done and not merely sorry for yourself, and I think the remorse that you've shown is genuine," Judge Michael Usan told him.
Allen responded with an emotional statement, saying, "To say I'm sorry does not even begin the true inner remorse I want to make known. I know that these words that I will speak will never erase the pain and sorrow and loss of what the family will have from now on. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about what happened and beg for forgiveness from God."
The other defendants—Michael Boatwright, Trayvon Newsome, and Dedrick Williams—were convicted of first-degree murder and armed robbery in 2023. Each received a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
