AceShowbiz - Animal Friends, the upcoming live-action hybrid road trip adventure from Warner Bros., has had its release date postponed once again. The film is now scheduled to hit theaters on January 22, 2027, after previously being set for May 1, 2026, and before that, October 10, 2025.

The movie is directed by Peter Atencio, known for his work on Keanu (2016) and The Machine (2023), with a screenplay penned by Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider. The project is produced in collaboration with Legendary, Maximum Effort, and Prime Focus Studios.

Ryan Reynolds, Jason Momoa, Aubrey Plaza, Addison Rae, Dan Levy, Lil Rel Howery, and Ellie Bamber comprise the ensemble cast. Initially developed at Sony Pictures, Animal Friends transitioned to Warner Bros. following the studio’s 2024 deal with Legendary.

Ryan Reynolds recently led the 2024 box office with Deadpool & Wolverine, which ranked as the second-highest-grossing film worldwide that year. He is also starring alongside Kenneth Branagh and Maria Bakalova in the upcoming Apple TV movie Mayday, which will begin streaming in September.

Jason Momoa appeared in last year’s successful A Minecraft Movie, a Warner Bros. and Legendary release, co-starring Jack Black and Danielle Brooks. He also featured in this year’s Prime Video action-comedy The Wrecking Crew with Dave Bautista. Momoa’s slate for 2026 includes highly anticipated titles such as Supergirl, Street Fighter, and Dune: Part Three.

Aubrey Plaza was last seen in Focus Features’ 2023 comedy Honey Don’t!, sharing the screen with Margaret Qualley, Charlie Day, and Chris Evans.

As Warner Bros. continues to adjust its release calendar, fans will have to wait a bit longer for Animal Friends, which promises a blend of humor and adventure in a road trip format. The film’s delay reflects ongoing strategic planning as studios navigate production timelines and market conditions.
