Dave Blunts reveals why he ended his partnership with Kanye West, citing the dark, controversial music that became too much to handle.

AceShowbiz - Dave Blunts has officially ended his musical partnership with Kanye West, revealing that the increasingly dark and controversial nature of their collaborative work took a heavy toll on him.

The Utah-based rapper and songwriter discussed his decision during an appearance on the Bootleg Kev Podcast, where he candidly explained why he chose to step away from working with one of Hip-Hop’s most divisive figures.

Blunts described how the creative process with Kanye West became progressively intense and the content of their music took a darker turn, pushing boundaries that eventually became too difficult for him to bear emotionally and mentally.

“That s### just got too much for me to handle. Bro, you know what I’m saying. Working with him in the beginning was already pretty crazy, but yeah, it just got too much to handle. The records we were making were pretty pretty controversial and it just got to a dark place,” Blunts said.

He added that he reached a point where he couldn’t keep justifying why he was continuing the partnership, especially given the negative impact the controversial material was having.

Blunts co-wrote several of Kanye West’s most contentious tracks, including songs that sparked widespread backlash for containing racist, antisemitic, and homophobic elements.

He shared a screenshot of a text conversation where he informed Kanye West that he was done working together and suggested the rapper needed to “find god.”

Despite their split, Blunts emphasized that he holds no grudges but is focused on building his own legacy, separate from Kanye West’s overshadowing presence in the industry.

He also took a pointed jab at fellow artist Digital Nas, who is closely associated with Kanye West. Blunts stated he never wants to become dependent on someone else’s success or be a “serial dick rider,” a term he used to describe Digital Nas’s perceived relationship with Kanye West.

“The thing is, I never want to be like a n#### like Digital Nas, like a serial dick rider. He’s like a runt dog... that’s just sucking on the t### of Kanye. I never want to be that type of n#### to anybody, let alone somebody who I looked up to,” Blunts explained.

Blunts pointed out that his own success predated his work with Kanye West. He had already bought his mother a car, supported his family, and signed a record deal before their collaboration began. This foundation gave him the strength and confidence to walk away when things became too overwhelming.

Currently, Blunts is focusing on his solo career and preparing to release a new album titled I'll Believe It When I See It. He is collaborating with Belgian producer Victor and aiming to create music that reflects his unique artistic vision and personal experiences.
