AceShowbiz - Stephen Amell, known for his role as Oliver Queen in the Arrowverse, is set to lead Fox’s upcoming 12-episode reboot of the iconic series Baywatch. In this new adaptation, Amell will portray Hobie Buchannon, the son of Mitch Buchannon, originally played by Peter Phelps and Brandon Call during the original show’s 11-season run.

The reboot shifts focus from David Hasselhoff’s legendary character Mitch to his son Hobie, who has now taken on the role of captain, just as his father did. The character’s backstory includes youthful mistakes and conflict with Mitch, but now as a father himself, Hobie faces new challenges, especially involving his daughter.

Jessica Belkin has been cast as Charlie Vale, Hobie Buchannon’s biological daughter. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Charlie is a bold and passionate character who relocates from Galveston, Texas, to join her father as a Baywatch lifeguard. Although Hobie and Charlie have never met before, she quickly realizes the demanding nature of her new profession and the lessons she must learn.

The addition of Belkin to the cast marks a significant expansion of the Baywatch family dynamic in this reboot. Belkin’s previous credits include appearances on The Neighbors, American Horror Story, Pretty Little Liars, and a recurring role on Prime Video’s Legally Blonde prequel series Elle, scheduled to premiere on July 1, 2026.

Joining Amell and Belkin is David Chokachi, who reprises his role as Cody Madison from the original Baywatch. After the conclusion of the original series, Chokachi appeared in shows such as Suddenly Susan, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and Soul Surfer. His return adds continuity between the classic and new versions of the show.

The reboot is led creatively by Matt Nix, the creator of Burn Notice, who is also an executive producer alongside Michael Berk, McG, Doug Schwartz, Greg Bonann, Mike Horowitz, and Dante Di Loreto. McG is expected to direct the first episode when filming begins in spring 2026 at Venice Beach, Los Angeles.

Amell was the first to join the cast during the casting process, highlighting his central role. In addition to his work in the Arrowverse, he has recently appeared in television series such as Heels, Suits LA, and The Borderline. His involvement signals a strong, action-driven presence for the reboot.
