AceShowbiz - Kanye West, the rapper also known as Ye, appeared unusually sleepy while testifying in a high-profile court case this week. The hearing, held on March 6, involved a lawsuit filed by handyman Tony Saxon over the renovation of West’s Malibu mansion.

According to multiple reports from the courtroom, Kanye West showed signs of struggling to stay awake during his testimony. Notably, Rolling Stone reporter Nancy Dillon observed that Kanye West repeatedly yawned and at times answered questions with his eyes closed, fueling curiosity among observers about his condition.

Despite Kanye West’s drowsy appearance, there has been no official indication from the court that he was under the influence of any drugs or narcotics. Speculation online has ranged from exhaustion and stress to possible medication effects, but no confirmed cause has been provided.

The legal dispute centers on Kanye West’s Malibu estate, an oceanfront minimalist home called “Little Ando,” designed by the renowned architect Tadao Ando. Purchased in 2021 for approximately $57 million, the property underwent extensive renovations that reportedly removed essential features like electricity, plumbing, and windows. Notably, Kanye West never lived in the house and later sold it in 2024 for about $21 million, incurring a significant financial loss.

The lawsuit was brought by Tony Saxon, who claims he was hired to manage the renovation project while also providing security and caretaking duties for the property. Saxon alleges he was promised $20,000 per week but received only a single payment. He further describes the working conditions as extremely harsh, including sleeping on bare floors using his coat for bedding.

According to the complaint, Saxon was eventually dismissed after sustaining a back injury and refusing to follow what he described as dangerous renovation instructions. Saxon’s attorney has emphasized that his client has waited over two years for the opportunity to present his claims in court.

Bianca Censori, Kanye West’s wife, also testified during the proceedings, appearing a day earlier. She stated that she had minimal involvement in the renovation and did not communicate directly with Saxon. During her testimony, an attempt to link Saxon’s confusion between her and Kanye West’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian was raised but was successfully objected to by Censori’s legal team.

On the other side, Kanye West has initiated his own legal action, accusing Saxon of wrongfully placing a $1.8 million mechanic’s lien on the Malibu property. The case features serious accusations from both parties, making it one of the more unusual celebrity legal battles currently unfolding.
