AceShowbiz - Jay-Z has released the original version of his classic track 'Dead Presidents' on streaming services for the very first time. The move is part of the ongoing 30th-anniversary celebration for his seminal debut album, 'Reasonable Doubt'.
Originally released independently 30 years ago, 'Dead Presidents' was the first single from the iconic rap LP. Produced by Ski Beatz, the track famously samples Nas's 'The World Is Yours', looping the line "I'm out for presidents to represent me" from Q-Tip's remix. This sample is often cited as the starting point for the famed rivalry between the two New York rap legends.
The original version did not appear on the final album. Instead, 'Dead Presidents II', featuring different lyrics over the same production, was included. Now, the original take is available across all major platforms including Tidal, Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music.
The anniversary rollout also includes newly pressed vinyl, cassette, and CD editions of 'Reasonable Doubt'.
In other news related to Jay-Z, his entertainment company Roc Nation continues its partnership with the NFL on the Super Bowl halftime show. Under his leadership, the show has featured performances from artists like Rihanna and Kendrick Lamar. This year, Jay-Z selected Bad Bunny for the slot, a performance that drew 128.2 million viewers.
Ahead of the show, the choice of Bad Bunny faced some controversy, including criticism from the MAGA movement and Donald Trump. Jay-Z defended the selection long before the event, stating he wasn't convinced the opposition was genuine and asserting, "They love him. Don't let them fool you."
