AceShowbiz - The Dublin International Film Festival (DIFF) has officially revealed its lineup for the 2026 edition, showcasing a remarkable collection of 83 films, including an impressive 17 world premieres. Among the renowned stars attending the festival from February 19 to March 1 are Colin Farrell, Bill Nighy, Paul Rudd, Chris Colfer, Nick Jonas, Ciarán Hinds, Colin Morgan, Dominic Cooper, Sarah Bolger, Katie McGrath, Aidan Gillen, and Éanna Hardwicke.

This year's festival also marks a milestone with a record number of 26 Irish narrative features and documentaries, 17 of which will celebrate their world premieres. Organizers expressed their excitement about the diverse lineup, highlighting the blend of established filmmakers and emerging talents.

“The mix of veterans and rising stars ensures a festival that bridges generations and inspires future filmmakers,” the festival organizers stated. “By boldly immersing audiences in cinema culture, DIFF 2026 will bring Dublin city to life with vibrant screenings, pop-up events, and a sense of anticipation that spreads across the city’s theatres, cafes, and cultural spaces.” The program is set to showcase films from various genres and cultures, in addition to local productions.

Dublin festival director Gráinne Humphreys remarked, “Ireland is often referred to as a nation of cinema-goers, but we do not always see as much world cinema as we could or should. DIFF exists to support cultural cinema and to create opportunities to experience international art and artists. We are proud of the range and diversity of this year’s offerings and look forward to welcoming new audiences while reconnecting with our loyal attendees.”

The festival will kick off with the world premiere of Once Upon a Time in a Cinema, directed by David Gleeson. This film is described as “a joyous and heartfelt celebration of the enduring magic of cinema.” Humphreys noted that the film, enriched with personal memories of Gleeson’s late father’s cinema, serves as “an Irish counterpart to Cinema Paradiso.” The opening night will feature the presence of Gleeson, along with Colin Morgan (known for Merlin) and Calam Lynch (from Bridgerton).

Additionally, the festival organizers have previously announced that John Carney’s musical-comedy Power Ballad, starring Nick Jonas and Paul Rudd, will have its world premiere as the closing film of DIFF 2026.
