AceShowbiz - David Harbour finally addressed his high-profile split from Lily Allen, his wife of four years, and the rumors that followed. In an interview with British GQ, he hesitated to dive into details, initially responding with a simple, "Oh boy."
He explained that his reluctance to discuss the breakup stemmed from the intense and often inaccurate media coverage surrounding it.
"I'm protective of the people and the reality of my life," he told the publication. He believes that engaging with the tabloid news would only contribute to "a salacious s**t show of humiliation."
This isn't all Harbour is dealing with. As he embarks on his fifth decade, he faces significant personal and professional shifts, notably the end of "Stranger Things". "There's a lot of change - a tremendous amount of change," Harbour admitted.
When confronted with such change, he believes there are two paths: denial and chaos or acceptance and adjustment.
The actor, who is joining MCU with "Thunderbolts", shared his approach to this tumultuous period: pouring his experiences into his work.
"For me, always the best thing that I can do is take all of that experience and pour it into work, because my experience, no matter how awful or great, will always be useful to someone else if it's channeled through art." He emphasized his desire to remain of use to others through his craft.
Despite trying to use this time as a period of growth, Harbour is cautious not to paint an overly optimistic picture. "It's not that things ending aren't hard, but it's just that I'm choosing to make it a period of growth," he explained.
He finds solace in staying busy with work and embarking on a deeper spiritual quest, stemming from his interest in mystic saints.
Harbour eloquently described his learning process, "I'm learning how to swim in this - whatever it is. Learning how to float. Learning how to make it not about me."
