In a new interview, the most decorated gymnast in Olympic history talks about the physical and emotional toll she was facing during the 2024 sports game in Paris.

AceShowbiz - Simone Biles, the most decorated gymnast in Olympic history, recently opened up about the immense physical toll her body took during the Paris 2024 Games, leaving her uncertain about competing in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

In an interview with French newspaper L'Equipe, Biles, 28, disclosed a harrowing aspect of her Paris experience. Despite clinching three gold medals and one silver, pushing her Olympic and World Championships medal tally to an unprecedented 41, the American gymnast suffered significantly.

"I felt it last summer in Paris. At the end of the competition, I went back to the village, I took the elevator and my body literally collapsed. I got sick for 10 days," she candidly revealed.

Biles spoke about her plans for the LA 2028 Games, stating that while she will certainly attend, she remains on the fence about competing. "2028 seems so far away, and my body ages," she explained.

Reflecting on her remarkable achievements, Biles admitted, "I have accomplished so much in my sport. For me to come back, I would really need to be thrilled by it."

"You're going to tell me that the perspective of the Games in Los Angeles is fascinating. And I will be there, whether on the apparatus or in the stands, I still haven't decided. So, to be honest, I don't know. We'll see," she mentioned.

Beyond the physical challenges, Biles also touched upon the psychological burden that comes with her widespread fame. "Before, I was completely anonymous in a crowd, and that was a real blessing. Now, wherever I am, people recognize me, stop me, ask for my autograph, a photo. It's weird to be known by everyone when you, yourself, don't seek it out," she noted.

After the taxing Paris Games, Biles retreated to her home in Chicago, where she isolated herself and took time to recover, supported by her husband Jonathan Owens. As she contemplates her future in gymnastics, her story serves as a powerful reminder of the intense demands - even beyond the arena - that elite athletes endure.

While the world watches and wonders, it's clear that Simone Biles' legacy in gymnastics is already secure, whether she decides to compete in Los Angeles or pass the torch to the next generation of gymnasts.
