AceShowbiz - Zach Gilford, the "Friday Night Lights" star, has filed for divorce from his wife Kiele Sanchez after 12 years of marriage. The couple, who share two children, met on the set of the 2010 ABC pilot "The Matadors" and played a couple in "Criminal Minds: Evolution."
Gilford cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split in court documents obtained by TMZ. He is seeking joint legal and physical custody of their children, Zeppelin, 7, and Revel, 4.
The couple had an enchanting beginning, tying the knot in December 2012 in a wedding ceremony where Gilford's close friend and castmate, Jesse Plemons, performed.
Three years later, the couple went through the heartache of a stillbirth but were blessed with a daughter born via a surrogate in 2017. Gilford once heaped praise on Sanchez, calling her a "mama lion" fiercely protective of their children.
In "Criminal Minds: Evolution," Gilford and Sanchez portrayed a married couple, Elias and Sydney Voit, navigating tense, disturbing scenes. Gilford found it difficult, "It's harder because I don't want to hold a gun to my wife's head... it felt gross [bringing those darker moments to life together]."
Their impending divorce came after Gilford's health struggle. In December 2024, the actor suffered from heavy swelling on his face due to an unspecified medical issue. He thanked the medical workers who took care of him as he miraculously recovered.
