The former star of 'The Real Housewives of Orange County' is mourning the passing of her brother Geoffrey Shyam Stirling after he was gunned down by police.

AceShowbiz - Lydia McLaughlin, known from "The Real Housewives of Orange County", faces heartbreak following the tragic death of her brother, Geoffrey Shyam Stirling. He was shot by police on Thursday night, April 17.

Stirling, aged 45, was pulled over while riding his motorcycle along the Pacific Coast Highway. Stirling was reportedly "uncooperative" during the stop, leading to the fatal shooting.

Local resident Guillermo Tagalogon reported hearing six or seven gunshots. Geoffrey was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The officers involved were not hurt.

The California Attorney General's Office has launched an independent review into the incident. According to an official statement, "The OIS incident resulted in the death of one individual and involved personnel from the Newport Beach Police Department."

The completed investigation will be handed over to the DOJ's Special Prosecutions Section for further review. Anyone with information can report it by calling (916) 210-2871.

Lydia McLaughlin, age 44, expressed her devastation in a statement to TMZ, "My family and I are devastated by the loss of my brother. We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support from friends, family, and the community. We kindly ask for privacy as we mourn."

Stirling, a San Diego native, had a multifaceted career. He was scouted as a model at age 16 and later acted in projects like TV miniseries "30 Days of Night: Blood Trails" (2007) and "Vanquisher" (2011). He also worked as a personal trainer, karate instructor, television producer, baker, and stuntman.

This tragic incident comes after Lydia lost her mother, Judy Stirling, who passed away from cancer six months ago. Judy was also a familiar face to "RHOC" fans, having made several appearances on the reality show.

Lydia shared her grief publicly, "Grief can make you better or bitter. I am putting in my whole heart to turn my sorrow into thanksgiving, for having the privilege to have such a beautiful mom. She will always be my hero, and my favorite."

Lydia McLaughlin initially joined "RHOC" in season 8 and made a comeback in season 12, but both stints lasted only one season each. She has since focused on her family, shared with her husband Doug McLaughlin, and their three children.
