President Trump appeared to snub Hines, who is married RFK Jr., when she extended her hand for a handshake. The President warmly greeted RFK Jr. but walked past the actress without acknowledging her, leaving the actress shocked and confused as she looked at her husband as if to ask what's going on.

The video quickly went viral on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter). One user quipped, "Cheryl Hines getting blown off for a handshake by President Trump is just missing the Curb theme music."

Despite the initial oversight, another video later showed Trump conversing with Hines and her husband. A source told PEOPLE, "This was simply an unintentional oversight, which can happen in a large crowd in a public arena. There is no way this was intentional."

Hines' relationship with Trump has been complicated. She has publicly criticized him in the past, even as she supported her husband's political alignment with Trump.

In a 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hines expressed her disdain for Trump's behavior, specifically referencing his past comments about Ted Cruz's wife. Her reluctance to support Trump became evident when Kennedy endorsed him during the 2024 Presidential Election, a decision she described as "really difficult."
