Sometimes the best love stories start with a mismatched date. Just ask Blink-182's Mark Hoppus, who found his perfect match after an underwhelming evening with actress Melissa Joan Hart.

AceShowbiz - Mark Hoppus, the 53-year-old bassist of Blink-182, opened up in his upcoming memoir, "Fahrenheit-182", about a less-than-spectacular date he had with Melissa Joan Hart back in the late '90s.
The two met at the Teen Choice Awards where Hart, then a household name thanks to her role in "Sabrina the Teenage Witch", had her publicist reach out to Hoppus' label to exchange numbers. However, their dinner date in the San Fernando Valley failed to ignite sparks.
"It was an awful date. She was very nice, but we weren't connecting," Hoppus writes. "Everything in her life revolved around acting, and it was hard to relate to her about anything else."
Hart's answers to Hoppus's questions further revealed their incompatibility. When asked about her favorite foods, she mentioned eating whatever was catered on set. When inquired about her reading preferences, she responded with scripts for work. Hoppus admits, "I'm sure from her perspective, all I could talk about was music."
Despite the lack of chemistry, Hart invited Hoppus back to her place, which offered a scenic view and a hot tub. Hoppus, however, decided to call it a night, citing an early set time. "She dropped me back at my hotel," he wrote.
Yet, the night took a serendipitous turn for Hoppus. Upon returning to his hotel, he found a voicemail from Skye Everly, an MTV talent executive who had previously rejected his advances. They ended up talking all night, and less than a year later, in 2000, they married. They now share a 22-year-old son named Jack.
Things also turned out well for Hart, who married musician Mark Wilkerson in 2003. The couple has three sons: Mason, 19, Braydon, 17, and Tucker, 12.
Hoppus's memoir, "Fahrenheit-182", due out April 8, is described as a funny, engaging, and heartfelt narration of his journey - from his childhood and the early years of Blink-182 to their ups and downs and his personal health struggles. It paints a picture of resilience and the unexpected twists that life and love can take.
