AceShowbiz - Dawn Robinson, an original member of the Grammy-nominated group En Vogue, recently stunned fans by revealing she has been living in her car for the past three years. However, she insists she is not "homeless" but has intentionally chosen "car life" as a part of her healing process.
In a statement shared with People magazine and further elaborated in a YouTube video, Robinson explained, "I want to make it clear: I am not homeless. I am temporarily choosing car life as part of my journey of healing and self-discovery."
The singer highlighted that this choice was a bold leap into the unknown, adding, "I took a risk and jumped headfirst into this lifestyle, and WOW, what a crazy, fun, sometimes scary ride it's been."
Robinson's journey into "car life" began in 2020 after moving out of her parents' house in Las Vegas due to familial tension. She later moved to Los Angeles based on a co-manager's suggestion, but an unexpected turn of events led her to stay in a hotel for eight months.
Seeking a solution, Robinson pivoted towards a "car life," discovering a community of individuals who live in their vehicles.
Emphasizing the importance of resilience and personal growth, Robinson stated, "For me, failure is NOT an option. Being vulnerable sucks, but here I GROW. This is about embracing freedom, trusting the process, and finding strength in the unexpected."
Additionally, Robinson warned fans against unauthorized fundraising campaigns allegedly set up on her behalf. "I've been made aware that some individuals may be requesting funds on my behalf through platforms like Cash App, GoFundMe or other means. I want to be clear: I have not authorized any fundraising campaigns," she said, urging fans to avoid scams and misuse of their kindness.
Throughout her journey, Robinson has faced various obstacles but remains determined, but she has found joy and strength in this unique lifestyle. Reflecting on her experience, she revealed, "I'm glad that I made this choice because I needed to go through this fire."
She urged her followers to face their fears and embrace spontaneity, saying, "I challenge you to do the things that are scary... Be spontaneous. Do the scary. F*** fear."
