'Euphoria' actor Austin Abrams is expected to headline a new iteration of the beloved series 'Resident Evil', promising a fresh take that leans heavily into horror and wilderness survival.

AceShowbiz - Emerging from the success of HBO's hit "Euphoria", Austin Abrams is now attached to play the lead role in an upcoming reboot of the iconic horror action franchise, "Resident Evil".
Joining Abrams in the cast are seasoned actors Josh Brolin and Julia Garner, creating a compelling ensemble for horror fans to look forward to.
Zach Cregger, the brain behind the recent horror hit "Barbarian", will direct the new "Resident Evil" film. The script is co-written by Cregger and Shay Hatten, notable for his work on "John Wick: Chapter 4" and Zack Snyder's "Army of the Dead".
Austin Abrams, who has been acting since the age of 11, will bring his vast experience to this pivotal role. Recently starring in the Apple TV action comedy "Wolfs", alongside George Clooney and Brad Pitt, he also appeared in movies like "Scary Stories We Tell in the Dark", Amazon YA romance "Chemical Hearts", and Netflix black comedy "Do Revenge".
On the TV side , Abrams' credits include "The Walking Dead" and "This Is Us".
The previous "Resident Evil" movies followed the adventures of a heroine fighting off zombies and the sinister Umbrella Corporation. It starred Milla Jovovich and Michelle Rodriguez.
