AceShowbiz - When iconic country singer Dolly Parton and pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter came together for a remix of Carpenter's hit song "Please Please Please," the "Jolene" hitmaker laid out a few ground rules.
"I told her, I said, 'Now, I don't cuss. I don't make fun of Jesus. I don't talk bad about God, and I don't say dirty words on camera, but known to if I get mad enough,' " Parton shared in a Knox News interview.
Respecting these guidelines, Carpenter modified the chorus from "mother***er" to "I beg you, don't embarrass me like the others."
The change was smoothly embraced by the "Espresso" singer, showcasing her willingness to honor the country legend's values. The alteration did not hinder their creativity; rather, it resulted in a harmonious blend of country and pop in their collaboration.
The new version of "Please Please Please" was released as part of the deluxe edition of Carpenter's album "Short n' Sweet." Carpenter was so excited about their duet, "Dolly and me singing in a pickup truck!!!!!! I am so honored to have one of my biggest idols on a song that means so much to me."
Parton was equally ecstatic as she wrote, "Two blondes are one thing, a collab with @Sabrina Carpenter is another."
At age 79, Dolly Parton has no plan to retire. When asked who she would like to work with next, Parton said, "Whoever calls me that I like … I'll I say, 'Yeah, I'll do that!' "
