Just when the 'Saw' franchise appeared to be making a triumphant comeback, internal conflicts spell curtains for what could have been an epic continuation of the series.

AceShowbiz - The "Saw" franchise, known for pioneering a classic era of horror movies, is facing an abrupt and unexpected end. Despite the success of "Saw X" in 2023, which rejuvenated interest in the series, the eleventh installment has hit an insurmountable roadblock.

According to multiple sources, "Saw XI" is kaput. "It's totally dead. It's 100% over. Almost a year now," the insider claimed.

"Saw XI" was initially slated to hit theaters on September 26 this year after an initial delay pushed it from its 2024 release date. Consensus across several reports indicates that production has been at a standstill for nearly a year, riddled with infighting among producers.

A source close to the production told Bloody Disgusting, everything went sideways in January 2024 causing severe conflicts between the producers. While one producer was eager to move forward, another created roadblocks, ultimately stymieing any progress.

Lionsgate, the production company, failed to mediate these disputes, leading to the project's collapse.

What makes this revelation particularly disheartening is the fact that "Saw X" had been a monumental success. Garnering an 81% certified fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and grossing a total of $125 million worldwide, it was the most critically acclaimed entry in the franchise. Tobin Bell's return as John Kramer was especially praised, fueling high hopes for "Saw XI".

Rumors also circulated about concerns regarding Tobin Bell's age, as the 81-year-old actor may not be capable of handling the physical demands of another "Saw" movie. This was, however, downplayed by insiders who attributed the film's cancellation mainly to producer infighting.

The franchise's original creators, including director Kevin Greutert and writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, were set to return for "Saw XI", promising a continuation that would include key characters such as Shawnee Smith and Costas Mandylor. With these plans unraveling, fans are left wondering if this truly is the end.

For now, it looks like the game is over for Jigsaw, unless new players step up to breathe life back into the series. Until then, fans will have to cherish the gruesome memories of one of horror's most enduring franchises.
