AceShowbiz - This week, internet buzz centered on Teyana Taylor's confidential divorce settlement with her ex-husband, Iman Shumpert. The speculation grew after details from their sealed case began to circulate online, prompting responses from the party involved.
According to the initial reports, Taylor, 34, walked away with four marital properties worth over $10 million, alongside a seven-figure payout from Shumpert. The settlement also included a monthly child support payment of $8,000 from Shumpert and coverage of private school tuition for their daughters - nine-year-old Iman Tayla Shumpert Jr. and four-year-old Rue Rose Shumpert.
The R&B singer was also reportedly awarded luxurious vehicles, including a Maybach, a Mercedes Sprinter, a tour bus, and a Bronco truck, plus the full ownership of her companies, Taylormade and Auntie's.
Meanwhile, NBA player Shumpert kept his Miami condo, a South Georgia estate, and property in Decatur, along with his investments in Shumpert Shump.
These revelations have cause debates on the internet. One side argued that Taylor robbed Shumpert while another side insisted it was a fair settlement and the division of assets was likely influenced by a prenuptial agreement that included an infidelity clause, which he allegedly violated by cheating on her.
Taylor's mother, Nikki Taylor, who also serves as her manager, spoke out in various media outlets, raising questions about the source of these leaks.
In a statement shared by "The Breakfast Club" co-host Loren LoRosa, Nikki Taylor remarked, "It's strange that a sealed divorce case, finalized on July 1, 2024, now has so much 'public' information. What about what the other party received? Let's be clear - both walked away with properties, vehicles, and businesses they acquired separately."
Nikki later reiterated her position, clarifying on a Shade Room post, "Some of my words were left out, causing confusion."
"This case is sealed. Any leaked information could only come from one of the involved parties. It's suspicious that nearly a year later, these details surface. She kept what she paid for, and he kept what he paid for. That's it. I hope this clears things up."
The couple filed for divorce in January 2023 after seven years of marriage, but their separation was not publicly announced until eight months later. Both parties agreed to co-parent their daughters amicably.
Adding another layer to the public intrigue, Teyana has recently sparked dating rumors with actor Aaron Pierre after they were seen together at an Oscars after-party and she posted intimate photos of them on Instagram. While neither has confirmed the relationship, social media continues to speculate on the potential new Hollywood couple.
