AceShowbiz - Billy Joel, the celebrated "Piano Man" and "Uptown Girl" crooner, has rescheduled several of his concert dates due to an undisclosed "medical condition."
The news was shared by Joel on Instagram, where he revealed he is taking time to recover from recent surgery and undergo physical therapy. The 75-year-old musician assured fans that this period is necessary for his health, expressing his regret over the postponements but emphasizing his commitment to his recovery.
"While I regret postponing any shows, my health must come first. I look forward to getting back on stage and sharing the joy of live music with our amazing fans. Thank you for your understanding," he wrote in a heartfelt statement.
The current tour will resume at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on July 5, and will include several rescheduled dates stretching into 2026.
Last month, Joel worried fans after a fall while performing his 1980 hit "It's Still Rock and Roll to Me" at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Video footage showed Joel losing his balance and falling on stage, but he quickly got up and continued the performance, indicating his resilient spirit. Despite the fall, he appeared mostly unscathed, much to the relief of his audience.
The tour's postponement includes eight rescheduled dates. Joel's new concert schedule features performances with music legends like Stevie Nicks and Sting.
The concert tickets already purchased will remain valid for the rescheduled dates, easing concerns among Joel's enthusiastic fans. Joel's last performance was in February at Mohegan Sun Arena, which serves as a poignant reminder of his commitment to returning to the stage despite health setbacks.
The music icon previously wrapped up his decade-long residency at Madison Square Garden in 2024, marking an impressive run of 104 sold-out shows. Joel's return to touring includes a historical "Triple Play" in New York, where he will perform at Yankee Stadium, MetLife Stadium, and Citi Field in one summer, an achievement that showcases his enduring popularity and unmatched dedication to live music.
Billy Joel's determination to prioritize his health while maintaining a bond with his fans exemplifies his resilience and dedication to his craft. His announcement reassures fans that although there is a temporary halt, the music legend is committed to coming back stronger for an unforgettable concert experience.
