In response to the media frenzy, the comedian clarified that they're strictly platonic. "I saw about 30,000 articles come through," Handler shared with Entertainment Tonight. "We went from one party to another party with a group of people, and that's all that happened."
Handler made it clear that neither she nor Fiennes considers themselves "marriage material." "I don't think Ralph Fiennes is marriage material, and I don't think I'm marriage material," she candidly stated. While she added that they might be "a good pairing in that sense," she insisted marriage isn't in the cards for either of them.
The speculation began after Handler and Fiennes humorously recreated a scene from Nicole Kidman's film "Babygirl" during the 2025 Critics Choice Awards, which Handler hosted. The bit included Fiennes calling her a "good girl" while she drank a glass of milk. However, the comedian emphasized that it was all in good fun and part of the show.
