AceShowbiz - Lizzo is back with her first new solo single in nearly two years, "Love in Real Life." This new track, accompanied by a cinematic video, starts a new musical era for the Grammy-winning artist.
The music video, which premiered on Thursday night, February 27, follows Lizzo through a nightmarish club scene. It started off Lizzo doing her makeup before deciding to hit the club. "Tonight, I might make an appearance since I look this fine, and plus, it's been a while," she declared.
What meant to be a fun outing turned into a night of terror as Lizzo was scared by unruly revellers. She ended up being cornered and ultimately infected by them, dancing in sync with the ghoulish figures in a scene that reminded people of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" sequence.
Earlier, Lizzo hinted at her new musical direction through various teaser videos, including one where she spray-painted "Bye, b****!" on the cover of her 2022 album "Special." She doubled it down in the caption, "End of an era."
During her brief hiatus from music. Lizzo is facing multiple challenges including a lawsuit from her former backup dancers for alleged harassment, which she has vehemently denied.
She also has to deal with constant body-shaming. As she embarked on a weight-loss journey, she's accused of using Ozempic.
The artist, however, refused to let negativities bring her down. In a podcast with Keke Palmer, she said, "I remembered my purpose… I'm putting everything in my art," hinting that the new music would reflect her journey and thoughts over the past two years.
Lizzo's new album, also titled "Love in Real Life," is expected to release later this year. Fans will get a chance to experience her new music live with shows lined up in Los Angeles, New York, and Minneapolis in March.
