AceShowbiz - Kathie Lee Gifford shared an untold story from 31 years ago about an incident involving Donald Trump. During a recent interview on "The Sage Steele Show," the TV personality recounted how the businessman-turned-politician ensured her safety from a terrifying stalker.
Journeying to Atlantic City to host the "Miss America" pageant with her six-week-old daughter Cassidy, Kathie received a death threat that was so alarming, it prompted the FBI's involvement.
Kathie recounted the chilling moment when her late husband, Frank Gifford, was informed by the FBI of a dangerous man making threats against her life. This man, described as a "psychopathic murderer" who had gruesomely attacked his own aunt, posed an imminent threat.
The FBI advised Frank to maintain their routine to avoid alerting the suspect, but he refused. Instead, he made a crucial call to Trump, who co-owned Miss Universe organization, and then Trump quickly took action to protect Kathie and her newborn. "And this is why I will love this man for my whole life," Kathie emotionally said.
Trump arranged for his helicopter to transport Kathie, her daughter, and a nanny to Atlantic City, providing a safer and more controlled environment for their travel. The generosity didn't stop there; upon arrival, Kathie was met by four of Trump's top security personnel, assigned to her protection for the duration of her stay.
"He never said a word. Nobody said a word to me," Kathie admitted, noting that she had not been informed of the true reason behind Trump's extraordinary measures until later after she saw a newspaper headline about the threat. She finally understood the measures taken to protect her.
The story culminated with the gratifying news that the stalker had been apprehended. Kathie expressed her immense gratitude when an FBI agent conveyed, "Mrs. Kathie, we got this son of a b****."
In recounting this gripping chapter from her past, Kathie acknowledged the complex sentiment towards politics and Trump. "I would cringe at times. I would go, ’Donald no, no,' " she said of her reactions to some of his views. "That's not the man I knew, you know?"
While she distanced herself from political discourse on the advice of the late Rev. Billy Graham, she felt compelled to share this personal story, revealing a side of Trump that she deeply respects.
Kathie concluded with a heartfelt acknowledgment of Trump's pivotal role in a critical moment of her life, emphasizing, "That's my friend Donald. Saved my life. Saved my daughter's life. And if I called him today, [he] would save it again."
