Amid the criticism, Hudson took to Instagram to clarify her choice, explaining, "I chose this gown because it is reminiscent of a Lombardi Trophy," referring to the iconic Super Bowl statuette named after coach Vince Lombardi, who led the Green Bay Packers to victories in the first two national championships.

Given Belichick's storied career as the legendary former New England Patriots head coach, the gown held sentimental value. Belichick, now 72, led the Patriots to six Super Bowl victories between 2002 and 2018 and secured two more titles with the New York Giants as an assistant coach in 1987 and 1991.

He is currently serving as head coach at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a contract valued at $10 million annually for five years.
