AceShowbiz - Wendy Williams is currently subject to court-ordered guardianship and confined to an assisted living facility in New York. However, on Friday, January 31, sources revealed that a judge has authorized private security to escort her from New York to Miami for a 48-hour visit to celebrate her father's birthday.
Meanwhile, the judge has also prohibited Williams from having further contact with the media. This decision follows Williams' recent appearance on "The Breakfast Club" with her niece, where they denied claims of cognitive impairment.
Williams was frustrated by her guardianship arrangement, describing it as "emotional abuse" and comparing it to a "prison." She has also alleged that she had only $15 in her possession and that her beloved cats had been taken from her.
During one of her interviews, she expressed her fears of retaliation, "I don't know how much I can talk without being punished."
Judge Lisa Sokolff, who oversees Williams' case, has faced scrutiny for allegedly granting guardianships to individuals who contributed to her Supreme Court campaign.
Wendy's relationship with her son, Kevin Hunter Jr., has also become strained after his power of attorney was revoked. Kevin claimed her court-appointed guardian Sabrina Morrissey threatened to have him arrested after he spent over $300,000 on her case.
For now, Williams' Miami trip provides a brief respite from her legal struggles. However, the larger battle over her rights and freedoms continues, with calls for greater accountability in her guardianship case.
