AceShowbiz - Congratulations are in order for Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi as they recently welcomed their second child, a baby girl named Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, into the world!
Princess Beatrice, originally predicted to deliver her baby in the spring, gave birth to her second daughter Athena on January 22 at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London. However, the royal baby's birth was not announced until a week later.
Buckingham Palace stated that Athena was born at 12:57 p.m. and weighed four pounds and five ounces. Despite her premature arrival, Athena is healthy and doing well.
Proud dad Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi shared the first photo of Athena on his page. The image shows baby Athena bundled up in a white sweater and pale pink blanket, with tufts of reddish-brown hair and her hand gently covering her face. Mozzi, fully besotted with his newborn daughter, described her as "tiny and absolutely perfect" in a social media post.
The palace statement conveyed, "Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi."
The King, Queen, and other royal family members were equally thrilled with Athena's arrival. Princess Beatrice and Mozzi thanked the hospital staff for their exceptional care, revealing that both mother and baby are in good health.
Athena joins her older siblings Sienna, Beatrice and Mozzi's first child born in September 2021, and Wolfie, Mozzi's son from a previous relationship. Both of Beatrice's daughters share the middle name Elizabeth, paying homage to their great-grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The palace previously announced Beatrice's pregnancy in October 2024, and although the couple had planned to spend Christmas in Italy, they stayed in England on medical advice and joined the royal family at Sandringham.
Beatrice, the elder daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, continues her work with several charities, including the Teenage Cancer Trust and Big Change, which she co-founded to help young people develop life skills. Known for her advocacy on dyslexia, she has spoken openly about her experiences and the importance of understanding and supporting individuals with learning difficulties.
As the royal family delights in the new addition, baby Athena, who is now 11th in line to the British throne, epitomizes the enduring legacy and the joys of new beginnings within the House of Windsor. With two precious daughters and a devoted stepson, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi's family are undeniably filled with love and happiness.
