An Instragram update reveals Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes' grandfather, Randy, has entered hospice care, following his hospitalization amid health struggles.

AceShowbiz - Patrick Mahomes' grandfather, Randy, has entered hospice care, his mother Randi Mahomes revealed on Instagram Stories. "My dad is in hospice and I'm lost for words [praying emojis]," Randi wrote alongside an image of herself and her father.

The news comes over four months after Randi announced in September that her father had been hospitalized for an undisclosed reason. She had been updating fans on his status since then, including sharing images of him watching Patrick's games on television and visiting him in November.

The announcement comes shortly before the Kansas City Chiefs are set to take on the Buffalo Bills in the AFC championship game on Sunday, January. 26. The winner will advance to the Super Bowl on February 9.

Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, welcomed their third child, a daughter named Golden Raye, earlier this month. They also have two other children, Sterling Skye and Patrick "Bronze" Lavon Mahomes III.

According to Patrick, Brittany has been "doing everything" as they transition to a family of five, while he's been "just trying to be supportive" amid the NFL playoffs.

He also expressed excitement about his older children's reactions to their baby sister. "It's cool to welcome another baby girl in our family and see how our kids react to her," Mahomes said. "Having baby sissy and stuff like that - it's been a lot of fun."
