Insisting that she's not rude to the employees, 'The Real Housewives of New Jersey' star Jennifer Aydin defends herself and claims the worker was 'monetizing' the controversy that followed the altercation.

AceShowbiz - "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" star Jennifer Aydin is addressing the backlash she received after posting a video rant about her experience at an airport Jersey Mike's. In the video, Aydin complained about slow service and made comments about an elderly employee, sparking outrage among viewers.
In a recent interview with US Weekly, Aydin denied being rude to the staff. "Hindsight is 20/20, but I did not think it was going to go that way. Not at all," she insisted.
Aydin explained that the incident occurred while she was traveling with a large group, including her family and friends. "We're a big group. I'm a family of seven. I have a sister with my goddaughter. She's a widow [and] her and my goddaughter come with us everywhere we go. So, we travel [with] nine people or a lot of people," she detailed.
Aydin and her cousin, Susie, joined the line at Jersey Mike's, which she described as moving slowly. "Jersey Mike's did not open until 5:30 and my cousin and I got on the line pretty much around 5:45 a.m. and there were not that many people on the line. Again, it was a little slow moving, but we weren't going to complain," she stated.
Aydin acknowledged that tensions arose when she attempted to add another sandwich to her order after placing her initial order. "I said, but you just fulfilled that woman's sandwich before me and I didn't even say anything and none of this is on camera - by the way. So she looks up and I guess she realized I was right and she goes, 'Well, then the guy behind you has to say it's OK,' " she explained.
The man waiting behind her then objected to her request, stating, "I mean, it's kind of ridiculous … that [she was] adding another sandwich." Aydin recalled feeling frustrated but attempting to remain calm. "Tensions are high. I know I'm going to get blamed for something and I'm going to keep my cool," she admitted.
Aydin explained that she started recording the interaction not to attack the staff, but to document the situation. "The whole point of me recording - I know it backfired - was to show that I was not snapping. I'm just recording the window. At that point, the guy is not even in my thing," she clarified.
The situation escalated when the man, who identified himself as a law professor, threatened to sue Aydin for "all [her] fake diamonds" if she posted the video. "I was shocked" and "disgusted by the man's behavior," Aydin admitted.
Reflecting on the incident, Aydin acknowledged that she could have handled the situation differently. "I didn't tackle this correctly," she admitted. "In my angst, I was telling him because I wanted him to know that you just can't be rude to people like that."
"You don't know who you're being rude to and I'm going to put you on blast. … I was just, like, livid that this person [was] talking to me that way. I want you to know that in the moment, I was not rude to the Jersey Mike's staff at all. I was trying to be polite."
Aydin also acknowledged the impact of her celebrity status on the situation. "I'm realizing now that I have to realize that I'm a public figure and that everything that I say or do will be scrutinized and I actually have to lead by example," she admitted.
While acknowledging her mistakes, Aydin also expressed frustration with the backlash she received. "I will apologize for calling [the worker] an 80-year-old woman and doing all that, but that's where it ends. They're monetizing this, which I'm very happy for. At last some good will come to them from this," she said.
