AceShowbiz - Drake seemingly took a jab at LeBron James in a series of new DMs shared on Instagram. In the since-deleted screenshot, the rapper drew a parallel between alleged manipulation of Kendrick Lamar's streaming numbers to the NBA star's infidelity.
"Me and Universal is like if Nike was funding a campaign about Lebron cheating on his wife," Drake allegedly wrote in the private text. "Not Adidas or Reebok... Nike the company he been with since he started. My situation is not no street s***."
Drake went on to emphasize his intention to set a precedent that could benefit other artists, "Everybody before me that tried the label was too eccentric so they wrote them off as crazy and they never had to pay for their sins and mistakes. I'm going to change that and make the building a safer place for every artist moving forward."
In November last year, Drake took legal action against Universal Music Group (UMG), accusing the label of artificially boosting the popularity of K.Dot's diss track, "Not Like Us." The lawsuit followed his rap beef with K. Dot, with many judging the latter as the winner in their battle.
While some fans and commentators were quick to mock Drake, accusing him of being bitter and jealous over Kendrick's success, others see potential for a groundbreaking shift in the music industry. Such changes could improve the system for future artists, hinting at a broader motive behind Drake's actions.
