AceShowbiz - Golden Globe-winning actress Zendaya Coleman faced a health scare while filming "Dune" sequel in Jordan. Due to the remote desert location and limited bathroom access, Zendaya opted to avoid drinking water, resulting in heatstroke.
"It was very hot, and I remember thinking, 'Oh, man, the bathrooms are so far away,' " she explained. "I was like, 'Damn, I don't want to drink too much water...' "
However, Zendaya's decision not to drink water caught up with her. "One day, I didn't drink enough, and I had a heatstroke," she said. "I felt so barfy. I remember calling my mom on the bathroom floor, saying, 'I feel terrible.' "
Zendaya's experience highlights the challenges of filming in extreme conditions and the importance of staying hydrated. The harsh environment of Arrakis, the planet featured in "Dune," contributes to the brutal filming conditions, mirroring the unforgiving nature of the fictional world.
The incident also sheds light on the limitations of costumes and their impact on actors. Zendaya's stillsuit, worn by the desert inhabitants of Arrakis, was heavy and time-consuming to remove, making it difficult for her to take bathroom breaks.
"The first few weeks, your body's quite sore. ... So that worked out! I was prepared," she joked about the physical demands of the role.
Following her grueling experience, Zendaya has learned a valuable lesson. "So, lesson learned. Just take bathroom breaks!" she emphasized.
"Dune: Part Two" is set to continue the epic adaptation of Frank Herbert's classic science fiction novel. The film, directed by Denis Villeneuve, was released in 2024.
