AceShowbiz - Carlos Santana, the iconic guitarist renowned for blending Afro-Latin, blues, and rock elements, has been forced to postpone the upcoming series of his Las Vegas residency shows due to an unexpected injury.
Santana was slated to perform eight shows at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino starting January 22, 2025. Unfortunately, he suffered a fall at his vacation home in Kauai, Hawaii, which resulted in a broken finger on his left hand, critical for his guitar playing.
This injury required pins to be inserted into his finger, and he is expected to be off the stage for approximately six weeks.
Michael Vrionis, president of Universal Tone Management, stated, "I am sorry to say that Carlos was out taking a walk at his vacation home in Kauai. He took a hard fall, and he broke his little finger on his left hand. He had to have pins inserted in the finger. Unfortunately, he won't be able to play guitar for approximately six weeks. Doctors do say that he will recuperate fully."
The postponed shows, initially scheduled to run through February 2, will be honored at rescheduled dates, and ticket holders will also receive refunds.
"Carlos is doing well and is anxious to be back on stage soon. He just needs to heal," Vrionis added. "Santana profoundly regrets these postponements of his upcoming performances, but accidents happen, and his health is our number one concern. He is looking forward to seeing all of his fans very soon."
Santana's return to the vibrant music scene of Las Vegas marks over 15 years of presence in the city. Although the initial residency has been postponed, he still plans to play shows on his tour through the rest of the year. His schedule includes one-off performances in Phoenix and Nashville and a subsequent Las Vegas residency starting May 14, 2025, wrapping up on May 25, 2025.
In addition to his Las Vegas shows, Santana will kick off his Oneness Tour on April 16, 2025, generating further excitement and anticipation for his return.
Known for his genre-transcending artistry, Santana's influence on the music industry is profound. He has been recognized with numerous accolades, including ten Grammy Awards and three Latin Grammy Awards, with his iconic album "Supernatural" alone earning him nine Grammys. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Santana has continually captivated audiences across generations.
While fans might be disappointed by this unexpected delay, Santana's health takes precedence. The legendary guitarist's resilience and dedication to his craft will undoubtedly make his eventual return to the stage all the more powerful, reminding young fans of the enduring legacy of an artist who continues to shape the music world.
