AceShowbiz - Luigi Mangione, the alleged UnitedHealthcare CEO killer, will join Sean "P. Diddy" Combs and Sam Bankman-Fried, in a protective custody unit at the notorious Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.

Sean "Diddy" Combs and Luigi Mangione are currently being held in separate floors at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York. However, prison consultant Sam Mangel told Page Six that Mangione will soon join Combs on the same floor in a protective custody unit.

Mangione, 26, was extradited to New York last week to face charges of first-degree murder and stalking in the daylight shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Combs, 55, was arrested in September on charges of *** trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution.

Both men have pleaded not guilty to their respective charges. Combs is set for trial in May 2025, while Mangione's next court appearance is scheduled for February 21.

Mangione is currently being held in the Special Housing Unit (SHU), a form of solitary confinement, for observation and psychiatric care. Inmates in the SHU are typically allowed out for one hour of recreation or bathing per day.

Combs, on the other hand, is being held in the general population. He is expected to be moved to the protective custody unit along with Mangione and Bankman-Fried, who is serving a 25-year sentence for stealing millions of dollars from customers of his now-bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX.

The Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn has been criticized for its poor conditions, including worm- and maggot-infested food, filthy cells, and power outages. However, the protective custody unit is designed to provide a safer environment for inmates who may be at risk.
