AceShowbiz - Concerned by outcry from neighbors and objections from Town Council members, action star Sylvester Stallone withdrew plans for a seaweed barrier near his North End Palm Beach home during a heated public meeting on Dec. 19.

Stallone's representatives had submitted applications to state and federal agencies claiming that the barrier was necessary to prevent seaweed and debris from accumulating on his shoreline. However, a public notice from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers revealed that the primary purpose of the project was to "exclude boaters" from the area adjacent to Stallone's property.

Neighbors were first alerted to the project when a public notice seeking comment from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) was distributed earlier in December. Soon after the Town Council meeting, a project engineer emailed the DEP to withdraw the application. The Army Corps has not confirmed whether their application has also been withdrawn, but the project no longer appears on its map or database.

Stallone attended the meeting with his wife, Jennifer Flavin Stallone, and project team members. He asserted that the barrier was not merely a vanity project but intended to protect the area's marine life and water quality. Stallone also raised concerns about derelict boats and waste in the Intracoastal, seeking support from President-elect Donald Trump, with whom he is acquainted, to address the issue.

However, neighbors dismissed Stallone's arguments, expressing concerns about safety and public access. They argued that the barrier would essentially close off the area to boaters and kayakers, who frequently use this popular recreation spot.
