AceShowbiz - When a jazz pianist starts his set at a renowned New York City bar, the last thing he expects is an impromptu duet with a legendary comedian. But that's precisely what happened.
Bill Murray, the legendary "Ghostbusters" actor, made a surprise performance at Bemelmans Bar inside the renowned Carlyle Hotel on Wednesday, December 18, joining jazz pianist Robert Mosci for an impromptu duet when the star was attending Mosci's piano performance. "I didn't know he was coming," Mosci said. "He came over to me and said, 'Hey, do you know the song 'Brandy?' "
When Mosci admitted he didn't, Murray then said Elliot Lurie, the songwriter of the 1972 hit "Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)," was in the audience. "If you could do it, that would be great," the actor told Mosci who quickly purchased the sheet music on his phone.
Murray, known for his eccentric personality, enthusiastically sang into the microphone while Lurie joined in on vocals. Mosci recalled, "Everybody in Bemelmans had a great time."
Bemelmans Bar is a popular destination for celebrities, and Murray is no stranger to the establishment. According to Mosci, Murray often stays at The Carlyle and has even filmed movies in the bar.
"We have celebrities in all the time," Mosci said, listing names like Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson, George Clooney, and Jennifer Aniston. He also mentioned a surge in popularity after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stayed at The Carlyle in 2021.
