James Gunn thanks fans as the highly anticipated 'Superman' teaser trailer has set a new record, soaring past previous benchmarks with over 250 million views in its first 24 hours.

AceShowbiz - DC Studios co-chief James Gunn has expressed his gratitude to fans for making the "Superman" teaser trailer the most viewed in the history of both DC and Warner Bros. with over 250 million views. The director celebrated the record on social media on Friday, December 20.

"Krypto really did take us home: With over 250 million views and a million social posts, Superman is officially the most viewed and the most talked about trailer in the history of both DC and Warner Bros," he wrote along with a picture of a scene from the movie. "This is because of all of you: thank you! We're incredibly grateful and, most of all, excited to share this movie with you in July. Happy Holidays!"

The trailer has surpassed the previous DC trailer view record set by "Joker: Folie a Deux" with 167 million views in its first 24 hours and rivaled the views of Marvel Studios' "Deadpool & Wolverine" trailer (365 million views).

Inspired by DC Comics' "All Star Superman", the trailer introduces David Corenswet as the Man of Steel and Clark Kent. It also marks the live-action debut of Superman's canine companion, Krypto.

The film will explore Superman's journey of reconciling his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing, embodying truth, justice and the American way. "Superman" will hit theaters on July 11, 2025.

Gunn's vision for "Superman" draws inspiration from previous DC media, particularly "All-Star Superman" and the Donner movie. He aims to present a grounded and modern take on the classic superhero, showcasing his relationships with allies and adversaries.

Despite completing filming in July, Gunn recently announced he would return for additional pickup shots to enhance the film. "No scenes. No reshoots. Just a handful of individual shots to enhance the film," he clarified.

The cast includes Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and Maria Gabriela de Faria as The Engineer, as well as Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio, Sean Gunn, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Isabel Merced and Nathan Fillion.
