AceShowbiz - It's suffice to say that Dennis Rodman won't be spending the holidays with his daughter. Trinity Rodman has spoken up on her nonexistent relationship with her biological dad despite their public reconciliation in 2021.
During her appearance on "Call Her Daddy" podcast, Trinity disowned the NBA legend. "He's not a dad," he said in the interview released on Wednesday, December 18. "Maybe by blood, but nothing else."
Trinity said Dennis, who was married to her mother Michelle Moyer from 2003 to 2012, would constantly have parties while she and her older brother DJ Rodman were in his care. "We tried to live with him, but he's having parties 24/7. He's bringing random b***hes in. He loves the spotlight. He loves the cameras," she divulged.
"My mom didn't want - she was strong enough to deal with it because even to this day, I still believe that my dad hasn't loved anyone after my mom," she claimed, noting that her mom left her dad because his "demons were too strong."
Michelle filed for divorce from Dennis in 2004, but their marriage wasn't dissolved until eight years later. Trinity elaborated, "I think my mom just saw the situation of, 'We love each other. It's not gonna work.' " The soccer star continued, " 'For my kids, I can't have them seeing you treat me this way, embarrass me this way and have the party scene all the time.' "
The professional soccer player then detailed her father's struggles with substabce abuse. "He's an alcoholic," she spilled. "That's something that I don't want to say, but I'm just like, f**k it. It's just the truth."
The 22-year-old added her dad was in her and DJ's "lives less" as they grew up. "We were seeing him once, two, three, four times a year," she shared. "Every time they were together, it was the same s**t. It was my mom being valid and what the f**k are you doing? Help us and help your children."
Trinity also claimed that the five-time NBA champ cut them off financially after the divorce. "Before the divorce happened, my dad was actually helping money wise," she claimed. "He would actually give money to my mom and let us live life a little bit. When the divorce happened, it was just like, 'F**k you guys.' "
As to why she had never spoken out publicly about her father before, the Washington Spirit player said, "We never want to make him look bad, and that is at the cost of kind of holding it in a lot." She admitted, "I guess it's just like the anger that I haven't really been able to let out is difficult for me."
Trinity also talked about Dennis' unannounced appearance at one of her games back in 2021 after months of no contact. She said it left her furious because he stole the moment from her. "I started crying on the field. He took this happy moment from me," she said.
Although they shared a viral embrace, Trinity revealed he disappeared again shortly after. "Stupid me for thinking that was going to be a spark. He'd come around, and then boom, months or years without speaking," she shared.
But Trinity has since buried her hope in mending their relationship. She alleged, "I think he's an extremely selfish human being. Everything has always been about him."
Despite their rocky relationship, Trinity said her father has been "trying to call" her over the last few weeks. "I answer the phone now for my conscience. If something does happen, God forbid, I want to know that I did that. Or if he needed to hear my voice before anything happens," she said. "That's why I answer the phone, not for me."
