This summer, horror fans are in for a nostalgic treat as two icons of 90s cinema, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr., return to the big screen for the highly anticipated reboot of 'I Know What You Did Last Summer.'

AceShowbiz - Jennifer Love Hewitt has solidified her summer plans. The actress, 45, is officially set to reprise her role in the upcoming reboot of "I Know What You Did Last Summer", she confirmed on Instagram on December 13.
"It's never too late to go back," she wrote, sharing a photo of herself looking in a mirror with the haunting title written on notes. "Julie James is returning. I know what you will be doing next summer!"
The movie will also star original cast member Freddie Prinze Jr., now 48. Though Sarah Michelle Gellar won't return due to her character's fate in the original, the reboot marks a significant reunion for our favorite 90s stars who headlined the 1997 slasher classic.
Scheduled to be released in theaters on July 18, 2025, the reboot brings new life to the iconic horror story. As confirmed by multiple sources, the plot will once again follow a group of friends who find themselves terrorized by a stalker aware of their dark past. Besides Hewitt and Prinze, the reboot will feature a host of young stars, including Madelyn Cline, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Jonah Hauer-King, Lola Tung, Chase Sui Wonders, and Sarah Pidgeon.
With production already underway, filming kicked off with a bit of a social media mishap when Sarah Michelle Gellar, married to Prinze, posted a photo from the set on Thanksgiving 2024. Gellar humorously recounted the incident on "Live with Kelly and Mark", saying, "Yeah … that was an 'Oops! My bad!' "
The reboot is directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and will be backed by a screenplay from Leah McKendrick. The new film aims to pay homage to its 1997 predecessor while introducing a fresh narrative that appeals to both old fans and new audiences.
