'Wicked' and 'Conclave' Lead Nominations for Critics Choice Film Awards 2025 With 11 Nods Each

Hollywood's biggest films are vying for top honors at the 30th annual Critics Choice Awards ahead of the upcoming Academy Awards, and the competition is fiercer than ever!

The Critics Choice Association has highlighted the crème de la crème of cinema this year, including "A Complete Unknown", "Anora", "The Brutalist", "Nickel Boys", "Sing Sing", and "The Substance" in the coveted Best Picture category.

"Wicked" shines with nominations in categories such as Best Picture, Best Acting Ensemble, and Best Actress for Cynthia Erivo while Jon M. Chu is up for Best Director. Key technical categories like Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, and Best Visual Effects also see the musical extravaganza making its mark.

"Conclave" demonstrates its strength, with Ralph Fiennes earning a Best Actor nod and Isabella Rossellini in the running for Best Supporting Actress. Edward Berger is recognized in the Best Director category, among other commendations in screenplay, cinematography, production design, and score.

"Dune: Part Two", directed by Denis Villeneuve, continues its critical acclaim with nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, and many technical awards, showcasing its outstanding production values and Zimmer's masterful score.

Meanwhile, "Emilia Pérez" stands out for its strong performances, with Karla Sofia Gascon and Zoe Saldana receiving Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress nominations, respectively. Jacques Audiard receives double recognition as Best Director and for Best Adapted Screenplay for the film.

This year's acting races are particularly notable. Marianne Jean-Baptiste returns to the spotlight with her Best Actress nomination for "Hard Truths", following an impressive award run despite being snubbed at the Golden Globes. Competitors in this category include Angelina Jolie for "Maria" and Demi Moore for "The Substance".

In supporting roles, "The Piano Lesson" 's Danielle Deadwyler and "Nickel Boys" 's Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor join nominees like Ariana Grande and Isabella Rossellini. The Best Actor category is led by notable names like Timothee Chalamet, Colman Domingo, and Daniel Craig, among others.

Hosted by Chelsea Handler, the Critics Choice Awards will air live on E! on January 12, 2025, at 7 p.m. ET, celebrating the best in film at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica.
