AceShowbiz - Monique Samuels, former star of "The Real Housewives of Potomac," has spoken out about the reality of her marriage and divorce from Chris Samuels. In a recent interview on "Dear Future Wifey," Samuels addressed accusations that she was a golddigger.
Prior to their marriage, Samuels worked as Chris' business manager. They entered into a prenuptial agreement designed to protect Monique's financial interests in the event of a divorce. The agreement stipulated that Samuels would receive a lump sum payment equivalent to what her salary would have been had she continued working for Chris.
Samuels clarified that the prenup was not intended to provide her with a windfall but rather to ensure her financial security in the absence of a job. She used the lump sum payment to purchase a home for herself and her three children.
Samuels does not receive child support or alimony, and she and Chris share joint custody of their children. She has been financially independent since the divorce, earning income from her season on "Love & Marriage: DC," radio salaries, her own business, and homeschooling her children.
As Samuels explained, the prenuptial agreement was not a means of securing riches but rather a way to protect her interests as a non-working spouse. She emphasized that she worked hard throughout her marriage and has built a successful life for herself since the divorce.
