AceShowbiz - Rosie O'Donnell's daughter, Chelsea O'Donnell, faces significant legal troubles, having been arrested three times within less than three months on various drug-related charges. Chelsea, 27, who was adopted by Rosie as a baby, was most recently taken into custody on November 18 in Niagara, Wisconsin.
The arrest occurred after police stopped the car she was in due to a loud exhaust. Officers noticed "pick marks" indicative of drug use on Chelsea's face and ran her name through their system, discovering she was already out on bond from previous arrests in September and October. A K9 search of the vehicle revealed narcotics, including naloxone, used to reverse opiate overdoses.
A search of Chelsea at the scene found a clear smoking device with methamphetamine residue hidden in her bra. She was initially argumentative but became cooperative, which led to officers removing her handcuffs. While being processed at Marinette County Jail, a more thorough search revealed Chelsea was hiding a prescription pill bottle containing various illegal substances, including methamphetamine and hydrocodone.
As a result, Chelsea now faces five new charges, three of which are felonies: two counts of methamphetamine possession and one count of narcotic drug possession. She is also charged with misdemeanor counts of drug paraphernalia possession and resisting an officer. Despite recent bail conditions requiring her to maintain sobriety, Chelsea's ongoing struggles with addiction have led to her current situation.
Family dynamics have also played out publicly, with Rosie O'Donnell taking a "tough love" stance. In a statement, Rosie expressed the family's hope that Chelsea would achieve sobriety, acknowledging her decade-long battle with addiction. Chelsea, however, voiced frustration over her mother's reluctance to bail her out, accusing Rosie of prioritizing advocacy for the Menendez brothers over her own daughter's needs.
Chelsea's legal woes began on September 10 when she was arrested for child neglect and drug possession, among other charges. Another arrest followed on October 11, adding more charges related to meth and drug paraphernalia possession. Each arrest has compounded her legal troubles, bringing to light the ongoing battle she faces against addiction and legal consequences.
Chelsea remains in custody, with her next court appearance scheduled for December 12. The family continues to hope she receives the help she needs to overcome her struggle with addiction, an all-too-common tale of how substance abuse can wreak havoc on lives, regardless of fame or fortune.
