AceShowbiz - Former WWE star Nikki Garcia, known professionally as Nikki Bella, hopes to mend her rift with ex-husband Artem Chigvintsev for the sake of their kid. As she returned to her and her sister's podcast, "The Nikki & Brie Show," Nikki shared deeply personal insights into their separation, the difficulties of co-parenting, and her aspirations for the future.
Despite the emotional toll, Nikki praised their efforts in co-parenting Matteo, emphasizing both parents' commitment to their son. "We're doing a great job at it," she said, "We both are very focused on Matteo, and that's the great thing. And I do think in time, I pray - I pray every day - we'll be great friends. We'll be able to share holidays together. I don't think that'll happen anytime soon, but I pray for it because, again, that's what Matteo deserves."
The couple, whose split was shrouded in controversy following Chigvintsev's arrest on suspicion of domestic violence, finalized their divorce in November. Despite the rocky path, both Nikki and Artem have decided to drop restraining orders against each other, focusing on effectively co-parenting their 4-year-old son, Matteo.
Nikki admitted on the podcast, "It's been really tough. I've been heartbroken, sad. You know, you dream of having this family and you have this incredible love and it just goes the other way. And you go from having a great love story to having a terrible one. And I never saw any of it coming, you know, as far as like what the ending would be."
Reflecting on her new life as a co-parent, she shared, "As far as moving forward, you know, I never thought I would be in this place as a co-parent. It's tough. I miss Matteo. Oh my goodness. Those first few times in my house, just think, I've never been in the home without him. Really, really hard. Very emotional."
Nikki also touched upon the emotional weight of being separated from her son, expressing how difficult it is for her. "I cry every time he leaves. I just cry so hard as I'm picking up his trains and cleaning his plates whatever it may be - doing his laundry - I just cry so hard." Despite the pain, she is determined to make the co-parenting situation work for Matteo's sake.
Her candid sharing offers hope to others facing similar challenges, as she concluded with optimism for the future. "I'm gonna get through this and it's gonna be hard - co-parenting sucks. It sucks because I want my baby boy every night. I never imagined having a family and only seeing my son half the time. That wasn't what I wanted. But I am here and I am gonna do it and I'm gonna do it damn well."
With a focus on maintaining privacy for her family and prioritizing her son, Nikki Garcia's resilience and openness highlight her determination to navigate this tough period with grace and hope.
