AceShowbiz - Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has admitted he feels guilty for walking past a young fan who fell over in front of him during a recent game. The incident occurred at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, after the Chiefs defeated the Carolina Panthers.
Video footage captured the moment when the child tumbled over the railing at the edge of the stands while excitedly reaching for autographs. Kelce, who was among the players exiting the field, witnessed the fall but chose to continue walking.
On his "New Heights" podcast, Kelce confessed, "I actually saw this and I just kept on moving... I felt bad after." He added that he noticed teammate Tershawn Wharton a.k.a. Terk had caught the child, which gave him some reassurance.
"I'm like over to the left ... I was like, 'Oh s**t. You got him, Terk? Hell yeah, Terk's got him!' " Kelce recalled.
Wharton, speaking on ESPN's "The Pat McAfee Show", described his quick thinking as a "natural reaction." He said, "I heard my name a little bit and when I heard my name, I seen him coming down. I just had to kind of like push him into the stands a little bit to make sure he didn't hit too hard."
Kelce, while joking that the child should sue the Panthers for insufficient safety measures, also acknowledged Wharton's heroism. He said, "Shout-out to Terk for making sure the little guy was alright."
Wharton has extended an invitation to the child to meet him and reflect on the incident together in the future.
