AceShowbiz - Travis Kelce and Colin Jost recently opened up about the unique experience of being the less famous half in their high-profile relationships. The NFL star and the Saturday Night Live cast member exchanged stories on the May 13 episode of the New Heights podcast, hosted by Travis and his brother Jason Kelce, discussing the perks and quirks of dating superstars like Taylor Swift and Scarlett Johansson.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end humorously referred to their situations as being part of the "plus one fraternity," asking Jost, "How nice is it to be the less famous person in the relationship?" To this, the "Weekend Update" anchor replied with relief, “Huge relief. Really.”
Colin, who has been married to Scarlett since 2020, joked about the camaraderie they share over dating A-list celebrities. Travis laughed and said, "I'm on the team. I'm here for it," embracing the dynamic.
Despite Scarlett’s immense fame, Jost revealed an unexpected twist: he often gets approached by fans more than his wife. "It's really funny because I'm probably almost approached more because she's less approachable," he explained, noting that his television presence makes him more accessible. "Because I'm on TV. I'm in their living room, so they're just like, 'Hey, what's up man? How's it going?'"
The comedian shared amusing encounters with fans who struggle to recognize his wife despite her worldwide fame. "We've been traveling and we've been standing at the passport check," he recounted. "The person's looking at her passport and he'll be like, 'Has anyone ever told you you look like Scarlett Johansson?'"
He added that the confusion stems from people genuinely not realizing they are speaking to the real Scarlett Johansson. "Like, genuinely asking and not realizing, even though he's looking at her," Jost said. "He's like, 'It would be weirder if it was her.'"
Jost described this phenomenon as "really kind of awesome," showing his admiration for his wife’s status while maintaining a grounded perspective.
However, there are some humorous downsides to Scarlett's superstar status. Colin mentioned a bizarre recurring issue when they order food together in public. "The other thing I noticed, too, is that if we're ever ordering food, you know the order is not going to be right," he said. "If we go buy a sandwich or something, she'll order and the person will recognize her and then doesn’t write down anything about the sandwich. Completely distracted, all the ingredients are wrong. We'll open the sandwich and nothing is [right]."
He laughed as he described the result: "It’s really funny. It’s bread and just, like, a pickle."
Beyond the food-ordering mishaps, Jost noted that his marriage to the Black Widow star brings other comedic challenges, especially for his stand-up comedy career. "As a stand-up, I would have jokes about either somewhat the idea of dating or the idea of marriage or what that is," he explained. "I can't be like, 'She's nagging me about this!' Everyone's like, shut the f--k up!' It really eliminated that part of stand-up."
This candid acknowledgment highlights how being married to a beloved, widely admired figure like Scarlett Johansson changes the usual dynamics of public humor and personal anecdotes.
Beyond their public personas, the couple is also dedicated parents. The pair welcomed their son named Cosmo in 2021, marking a new chapter in their lives as super parents balancing fame and family.
Their playful personalities were on full display during the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards, where Colin accepted the Generation Award and poured a bowl of green slime over Scarlett, creating an iconic moment celebrated by fans and media alike.
Throughout various award seasons, from the Oscars to the SAG Awards, the couple has been recognized not only for their individual achievements but also for their stylish appearances and affectionate moments on the red carpet, showcasing their strong bond.
From the 2020 Golden Globes after-party to the Avengers: Endgame premiere in 2019, the duo has often been seen sharing laughs and tender gestures, such as Scarlett sneaking a kiss with Colin amidst posing for photos in a stunning red gown.
They have also made notable appearances together at prestigious events like the American Museum of Natural History Gala in 2018, the 2018 Emmy Awards, and the Met Gala the same year, where their chemistry and glamour captivated audiences.
The couple’s joint red carpet appearances, including the premiere of Avengers: Infinity War in 2018, further showcased their united front, balancing Hollywood stardom with genuine affection.
Their first public outing as a couple was at the 2017 Museum Gala at the American Museum of Natural History, marking the beginning of a relationship that continues to flourish in the spotlight.
As Travis Kelce and Colin Jost continue to navigate life with their extraordinary partners, their candid conversations offer fans a glimpse into the lighter side of being "the plus one" when dating some of the world's biggest stars.
