AceShowbiz - Oscar winner Angelina Jolie is set to take on a new role in Alice Winocour's upcoming movie, "Stitches." This exciting high-fashion film will unfold in the glamorous setting of Paris. According to Deadline, the film will feature aspects of both French and English, similar to Winocour's previous work, "Proxima," which starred Eva Green.
The film, produced by Charles Gillibert's CG Cinema in collaboration with Zhang Xin and William Horberg of Closer Media, will reportedly start filming in early 2025. As noted by Variety, "Stitches" will follow the lives of three women whose paths intersect during Paris Fashion Week, with Jolie playing a filmmaker.
Winocour is no stranger to dealing with complex characters in male-dominated environments, as seen in her film "Proxima." The director's previous film, "Paris Memories," premiered at Cannes' Directors Fortnight and earned its star, Virginie Efira, a Cesar Award. For "Stitches," Winocour is once again partnering with Pathé Films, which will distribute the film in France.
Jolie's presence in Paris is not new, as she recently filmed "Maria," where she portrayed the iconic Greek opera singer Maria Callas during her final days in the 1970s. This film, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival, garnered an eight-minute standing ovation and placed Jolie in this season's best actress Oscar conversation for the first time in 15 years.
Beyond "Stitches" and "Maria," Jolie is expected to star in three additional upcoming projects, including a film titled "Maude v Maude" with Halle Berry and a third installment of the "Maleficent" series.
Winocour's keen ability to portray compelling, layered narratives combined with Jolie's formidable acting skills sets up "Stitches" to be a highly anticipated release. With production set against the backdrop of Paris Fashion Week, audiences can expect a visual and emotional feast as the lives of three women interweave in the sumptuous world of high fashion.
