AceShowbiz - "1000-Lb. Sisters" star Tammy Slaton has shared a major update on her weight-loss journey. In a clip posted to TLC's Instagram, Tammy was seen weighing in at 281.2 pounds. This marks a loss of over 20 pounds in just three months since her last appointment.
Tammy expressed her disbelief, stating that the last time she weighed 281 pounds, she was in elementary school. She now weighs less than her older brother, Chris Combs, who admitted in a confessional that he never thought he would see the day when his sister would be smaller than him.
Tammy's weight-loss journey began in 2022 after a medical incident that placed her in a medically induced coma. She lost around 115 pounds during her hospital stay. In July 2022, she underwent bariatric surgery and qualified for the procedure after reaching her goal weight of under 550 pounds. By December 2023, she had dropped down to 285 pounds.
Tammy's weight loss has enabled her to ditch her walker and oxygen support tank, which she had relied on for 15 years. She now only uses oxygen at night.
In addition to weight loss surgery, Tammy is also seeking invasive treatments, including skin removal surgery. However, her doctor has advised her to continue losing weight before she can qualify for the procedure.
Tammy has been documenting her milestones on social media and has shared photos of her progress. She remains motivated by her desire to remember how large she was and to live a healthier life.
